Adult & Child Therapist

Schedule with Lauren

Hi, I'm Lauren, and Healing Pathways is the practice I built. So many of us learn early that ‘we don't talk about it,' and that silence has a way of following people into adulthood. I created this space so that talking about it feels less like a risk and more like a relief — for children, for adults, and for the families holding it all together.

I am nurturing and straightforward at the same time. You will find warmth here, and you will also find someone who will gently tell you the truth. I have sat with people through fresh grief, long-held trauma, hard seasons of parenting, and the ordinary weight of a life that has gotten heavy — and I have learned that healing is rarely a straight line. It is a journey, and it moves at the pace of the person doing it.

I am especially passionate about acceptance and commitment work, play therapy with children, and EMDR — including EMDR in the sand tray, where the story can be told with hands instead of words when words are not enough yet. Attachment is at the center of much of my work; the earliest relationships we have shape how safe we feel in every relationship that follows, and that is often where meaningful change begins. What matters most to me is not the method but the fit — together we will find the approach that works best for you.

I will not make your decisions for you. You are the expert on your own life, and my role is to help you see it clearly, weigh what matters, and move toward the goals you set.

‘The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.' — Carl Rogers. You owe it to yourself to work through the hard things. My job is to offer the tools, the steadiness, and the company along the way. Reach out when you are ready to begin.

You know the “I should be doing better by now” feeling. The one that shows up when you’re comparing your life to everyone else’s, questioning your choices, or wondering why things feel harder for you than they seem for others. Maybe your mind won’t slow down, you’re stuck in overthinking, or you’re exhausted from trying to keep up with everything while still feeling like you’re falling behind.

I believe therapy is a space to step out of that constant pressure and finally exhale. It is a space where you don’t have to perform, explain everything perfectly, or figure it out before you walk in. We slow things down and make space for what’s actually going on underneath the anxiety, the heaviness, or the disconnect.

Together, we begin to understand the patterns that keep you stuck—not with judgment, but with curiosity and care. My approach is collaborative and tailored to you, because your experience deserves more than a one-size-fits-all path.

If you’re feeling ready for something to shift—even if you’re not sure what that looks like yet—you’re welcome here.

Vesper LaThary

LIMHP, LPC

LGBTQIA+, Trans & Gender-Diverse, Bariatric & Body Image, SPMI · Narrative Therapy

Schedule with Vesper

Hi, I'm Vesper LaThary (she/her) — my last name is pronounced "la-THARE." I'm a Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner and Licensed Professional Counselor, and I work primarily with adults who are ready to make sense of what they've been carrying. My experience spans community mental health and inpatient psychiatric care, so I am comfortable supporting people living with complex and persistent mental health conditions as well as those navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, and identity questions.

I hold particular passion for the LGBTQIA+ community, especially trans and gender-diverse clients, and for people whose mental health is intertwined with weight, body image, or bariatric care. As a queer and transgender therapist, I aim to offer a space where you do not have to explain or defend who you are before the work can begin. If faith or spirituality matters to you, that is welcome in our conversations as well.

‘The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are.' Carl Jung's words guide my work. My approach is rooted in narrative therapy — the belief that you are the author of your own story and that reclaiming that authorship is deeply healing. Alongside that, I draw on Internal Family Systems, ACT, CBT, DBT, and person-centered practices, shaping the work around what fits you rather than the other way around.

I primarily see adults 19 and older, and I am glad to consider working with younger clients when it seems like a strong fit. Reach out and we can talk through whether we are the right match.

Hello! I am Jessica Hoffman (she/they), a provisionally licensed mental health practitioner. Maria T. Kerkman

Maria T. Kerkman

PLMHP, PCSMW, MSW

Bilingual · Individual & Couples Therapist

Schedule with Maria

Hello, I'm Maria. I was born and raised in Mexico City and moved to the United States in my late twenties, living near New York City before settling here in the Midwest. Those roots in both Latin America and the U.S. shape how I sit with clients — I understand what it is to hold more than one culture, one language, and one version of home at the same time.

I work with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families, in both English and Spanish. Much of my experience has been in community and school settings, and I have a strong background supporting people navigating behavioral concerns, domestic violence, and the stress of the legal system. I match my approach to the person in front of me rather than asking you to fit a single method.

I believe you deserve to enjoy every part of your life. Learning to cope with your emotions and recognize the triggers that affect your mental health is essential to becoming the best version of yourself — and you do not have to do that work alone.

Samantha Reed

PLMHP

SPMI, Chronic Illness & LGBTQIA+ / Queer Therapist

Schedule with Samantha

Hi! I'm Sam, a Provisionally Licensed Mental Health Practitioner. I have experience in inpatient and outpatient settings with clients facing a wide range of diagnoses and life struggles — Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, and general life stressors. I particularly enjoy working with LGBTQIA+ individuals and am trained in supporting first responders as well as clients navigating gambling addictions.

I also work with clients living with chronic illness — the grief, identity shifts, and nervous system toll of a body that does not always cooperate deserve a therapeutic space of their own. Depending on your needs, I draw from Person-Centered Therapy, CBT, EMDR, Trauma-Focused CBT, DBT, and Motivational Interviewing — always from a trauma-informed perspective.

I am also in the early planning stages of launching group therapy at Healing Pathways — a space for shared healing alongside individual work. If that sounds like something you would want to hear more about, let me know.

Whether you are struggling with your mental health or riding the natural ups and downs of life, we can collaborate to help you reach your goals. You will not have to go through this alone.
